Boxing and Music

Heiner, one of the boxing coaches at Campussport Köln, has a beautiful manner of organizing lessons:

We start on our ropes with fast and slow intervals getting warmed up.

Standing we deliver straight jabs.

Standing we deliver straight punches

Standing we deliver a straight jab, a straight punch, and a straight jab.

We repeat the last exercise with a left step forward for the punch and a right step for the second jab.

We get back to our ropes.

Standing we deliver a straight jab, a straight punch, and a hook jab to the head.

We repeat the last exercise with a step on the punch and the hook jab.

We add a hook punch toward the body.

Gymnastics.

We take up the ropes again.

One round of shadow boxing.

We put on our gloves and choose a partner.

We practice in pairs the combinations learned before. The partner is not allowed to counter, but merely to hold up his hands.

We switch sides.

We switch sides again. Now the partner is allowed to counter. So I have to think of my cover.

We switch sides again.

We relax.

More complicated things with the partner.

We relax.

We deliver a fire of jabs and punches at the bags alternatingly.

We relax.

We take up our ropes.

We relax and ease our muscels.

It's just beautiful. Like music. The beauty of structure. Symmetry. Development. Additions. Subtracttions. Mirrors. Intervals. An overall structure. Slow and fast stretches.
